A bit about The Wrea

Built in 2007, The Wrea, Bolgoda is a unique waterfront property offering beautiful views of the Bolgoda Lake and boasts a 25m swimming pool, huge garden, rooftop balcony and a terrace or private balcony for each bedroom.

The property is an Ariya Gallage design, and it proudly displays a unique collection of artwork on its walls spanning the works of Jonny Hurts, Thilini Silva, Nilrandha Fonseka and CH Holmes all of which complement the Architect’s vision.

The name “Wrea” (pronounced “Ray”) was inspired by the host’s visit to a quaint little village called “Wrea Green” in the United Kingdom. Inspired by the harmony between the untouched nature and natives of the village, it was sought to bring a little bit of that harmony to Sri Lanka as well. The name “Wrea Green” has Nordic roots and the village was named by Vikings who settled there.

With our first ever guests, our partner company and the artist who generously donated his artwork to us all being Norwegian, as well as the impact Wrea Green had on the host, there was no name more unique and better fitting than,

”The Wrea, Bolgoda”
